Social media blogs follow me around all day. It’s social media blogs morning, noon, and (last call!) social media blogs at night as I look for information and new ideas to share with Desk.com users.
Before I joined our team back in 2010, I don’t think I ever read a social media blog. Now names like Seth Godin, David Meerman Scott, and Brian Solis roll off my tongue like favorite rock stars. Yes, I am saying it out loud: Brian Solis makes my heart beat a little faster!
Since Desk.com is built with the new social landscape firmly front and center, we need to bring insights from the best social media blogs to our users.
My 6 Favorite Social Media Blog Personalities (in no particular order):
John Jantsch
On his blog, Duct Tape Marketing, Jantsch shares specific tactics on using social media, especially for small business.
Brian Solis
Erudite and thoughtful professorial-level knowledge of the social world. Brian is intimidatingly smart, but his blog takes complex ideas and makes them understandable. Plus, he’s hawt.
Seth Godin
The wry Godin is always a treat in Seth’s Blog. Bite-size chunks of joy with every post. You’ll be lured to his books, which is a good thing.
Chris Brogan
Chris Brogan’s posts are like talking to a friend. His blog is also a library of information. Use it.
David Meerman Scott
Web Ink Now is the place where David shares real-life examples for people who don’t spend their days and nights immersed in marketing. I will often say, when reading his blog, “Oh, now I get it.” His writing is conversational yet stylish. Big fan of DMS
Jeremiah Owyang
Web Strategist by Jeremiah Owyang shows the world of social through the eyes of an analyst, so it’s interesting just for that reason. But he talks a lot about what’s coming up next in social, so keep your perspective fresh with his posts.
There are so many other great social media blogs: story tellers like Garr Reynolds and Presentation Zen, edgy ones like Peter Shankman, and textbook perfect blogs likeĀ Forrester’s Groundswell (Josh Bernoff) that help all of us understand the culture better.
Read, and enjoy! Please suggest other social media blogs (perhaps undiscovered!) that you find helpful.
