Manager of Email Marketing and Operations
The Manager of Email Marketing and Operations is responsible for managing all of Desk.com’s email marketing campaigns to increase engagement and revenue, as well as managing and coordinating the operational support for other marketing campaigns in other channels. In this role, you will be managing the email campaign process including scheduling and planning, creative development, set-up, review, QA, deployment, analysis and reporting.
Your primary focus will be email marketing, but you will also provide operational support for marketing campaigns in other channels. You will be extremely numbers-driven, analytical, and detail-oriented. Your goal will be to ensure the smooth production of marketing campaigns, looking to test and optimize campaign effectiveness. You will also be responsible for managing the email marketing database and administering the marketing automation tools.
What you’ll be doing:
- Execute on the email marketing strategy, with a focus on audience segmentation, lifecycle and transactional email campaigns
- Manage email marketing calendar so that our audience receives relevant content
- Provide key operational support, including planning, coordination, and analysis, for marketing campaigns in other channels
- Proactively track, monitor, analyze and optimize campaign performance via aggressive testing methodologies
- Develop and analyze key marketing metrics to ensure campaigns are meeting revenue and acquisition cost goals and meet email KPIs
- Develop quality control practices and ensure pristine quality of all emails.
- Manage deployment of all consumer and channel emails.
- Guide designers on creative development of new templates and updates to opt-in pages
- Ongoing data entry, data validation, and data enrichment of contacts database
- Manage lead and prospect databases: e.g. pulling new list segments and maintaining overall database cleanliness
- Assist sales with list-building, segmentation and specific targeting campaigns
The ideal candidate:
- 3+ years of experience in database or online marketing with email as a primary focus
- Background in online marketing with an understanding of campaign performance tracking, email best practices, and data driven marketing tactics
- Experience with a/b testing methodologies is preferred
- Experience with Salesforce.com is a must
- Experience with email marketing tools like Genius, Eloqua or Marketo
- A solid working knowledge of HTML to guide the creation of and edit email templates
- Ability to write SQL queries and develop pivot tables in Excel highly desirable
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
