Out with the Old, in with the New: Browser Support Changes Ahead

As another year begins, our product and development team is looking forward to helping you make the most of your experience with Desk.com. Traditionally, a new year is always a great time to say “out with the old, and in with the new.” It’s critical we all keep up with the latest web technologies. So we’re now only actively developing our products for newer versions of web browsers.

What works with what?

You’re in good shape if you’re running the current or previous major releases of Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Internet Explorer. Agent Desktop, Admin Panel, Business Insights and Support Centers are all optimized to work with these browsers. In addition, Internet Explorer’s current and two previous releases are compatible with customer-facing Support Centers.

 

So, as of Dec. 31, 2012, Desk.com is designed to function properly in these browser versions:

  • Chrome: 23, 22
  • Firefox: 17, 16
  • Safari: 6, 5
  • Internet Explorer: 10, 9, 8 (IE 8 with Support Centers only)

 

What does this mean you?

While this won’t make any changes that will intentionally cause older browsers to stop working, as of Feb. 1, we’ll no longer test or address issues specific to Internet Explorer 8 in Agent Desktop, Admin Panel or Business Insights.

Embracing modern browsers — and the cutting-edge technologies they support — ensures the ideal experience with Desk.com, and opens the door for our developers to create features that we can currently only dream of.

So, if you haven’t already, update your browsers! Celebrate the New Year by upgrading to a current version to take advantage of all the performance and security fixes we’re working on every day.
