Trust is the #1 value for the Desk.com team and we have always taken a strong stance for the protection of our customers. We are very pleased to share that Desk.com has met stringent requirements and now participates in the U.S.-European Union and U.S.-Swiss Safe Harbor programs as of August 13.
The U.S. Department of Commerce, in consultation with the European Commission and Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner of Switzerland, developed the Safe Harbor frameworks to provide participating U.S. organizations with a way to meet European “adequacy” standards for cross-border data transfers of personal data.
The certification, which includes Desk.com’s online services, means that our customers can now rely on it to address European requirements for cross-border transfers of personal data protection in the U.S. instead of, or in addition to, other compliance options, as the case may be. Although this program was primarily orchestrated for companies with European operations, the benefits of the program and the supporting data protection processes that Desk.com has implemented apply to all of our customers. You can read more about our security policy here.
To certify, Desk.com underwent a rigorous self-assessment to ensure we adhere to the Safe Harbor Privacy Principles, a requirement of the frameworks:
- Onward transfer
- Data Integrity
From the earliest days of Desk.com as Assistly, we’ve held our customer data and privacy in the highest regard. As our customer base has grown internationally, so has our commitment to ensuring that Desk.com is in line with privacy expectations of customers around the world.
We hope this latest effort reiterates to our customers that trust is the No. 1 value for Desk.com. We’re committed to protecting your data and privacy and we’re proud to have achieved this certification.
